Tamamo-no-Mae

Tamamo-no-Mae is a legendary nine-tailed fox that disguised herself as a beautiful woman and served Emperor Toba's court. Known for her extraordinary beauty, she was secretly a powerful yokai feeding on the life force of her victims. Her true nature was revealed when a series of misfortunes struck the court, leading to her eventual exile.

Legend

After being exposed by a traveling monk, Tamamo was transformed back into her fox form and fled to Nasu, where she ultimately became the Sesshōseki, or killing stone, which consumed the lives of those who approached.
