Hyōsube

Hyōsube are a local variant of kappa found in Kyushu, characterized by their slender bodies and propensity for mischief. They are said to prefer the fast-flowing streams and rivers where they can perform tricks or lure travelers into the water. Unlike their northern cousins, Hyōsube have a distinct social structure and are known to live in familial units.
