Shintō Shūseiha

A Confucian-influenced Shintō sect founded by Nitta Kuniteru, recognised in 1876.

Definition

Organised by Nitta Kuniteru (1829–1902), a Mito-school scholar who fused Shintō reverence for the kami with Confucian moral cultivation (shusei, "training the self into perfection"). Recognised by the Meiji government in 1876, the sect emphasises ethical self-discipline, reverence for the imperial line, and family-altar worship.
