Shintō Seiji Renmei

The political lobbying arm of Jinja Honchō, founded in 1969 to advance constitutional revision and conservative cultural policy.

Definition

Founded on 30 November 1969 as the political wing of Jinja Honchō, abbreviated "Shinseiren". It campaigns for revision of Article 9 of the constitution, official prime-ministerial visits to Yasukuni Shrine, restoration of imperial era-name conventions, and traditionalist family law. Many Liberal Democratic Party Diet members belong to its parliamentary caucus, making it one of the most visible religion-based lobbies in Japan.
