Cape Town Inari Shrine

A small Inari shrine established within a Japanese cultural garden in Cape Town, maintained by a Japanese-South African cultural society. Inari, the kami of rice, agriculture, and foxes, has attracted a devoted following among local practitioners who connect the deity's domain of abundance and protection to the Cape's rich agricultural and winemaking heritage. The shrine features a miniature torii gate and a stone fox (kitsune) guardian pair imported from Japan.
