Tenjiku

Tenjiku is a kami venerated in a small shrine within the Tsukushi region, associated with maritime navigation and safe oceanic passage. Fishermen and sailors always offer prayers to this kami before embarking on journeys at sea.

Mythology

Local lore tells of Tenjiku saving sailors from storms by revealing celestial constellations to guide them safely home, endearing him to the seafarers who praise his name each voyage.
